Often, it is a sentimental time for families. Recently, we received a call from a lady tasked with clearing out her father’s property, a stunning rambling home on the central coast of New South Wales. On the large block stood a four-car garage with a mezzanine. The entire space had become an accumulation centre for a lifetime of collecting, inventing, and “I might need that at some point”.
To our client, it was an expanse of memories, family heirlooms, and unfinished projects that told the story of her dad’s life. From tools that he held in hand to craft a toy for his grandchildren to cables, soldering irons, and other trade equipment that were the instruments for his next invention, everywhere she looked, every box she opened, every gap she squeezed through, there was a piece of her father’s legacy.

One of the client’s best memories from the clean-up had nothing to do with the rubbish itself. Matt brought his five-year-old daughter along one day during the school holidays.
