A deceased estate clean-up with compassion

A part of our business is house and yard clean-ups for deceased estates. These types of projects are often an afterthought, and families require Matt to get in and complete the job. Recently, Rov’s had a unique experience when our client, Peter, called. Within 12 weeks, he lost his sister and brother-in-law, and suddenly became the primary caregiver for his young adult niece on the autism spectrum. He also had to clear out his late sister’s house, essentially an entire deceased estate filled with belongings and memories. It was an overwhelming task to face alone.

Peter searched online and discovered Rov’s. Our focus on compassion and sensitivity under challenging situations immediately reassured him. As a local, family-owned business that tackles jobs with a personal and compassionate touch, Peter knew Rov’s was the right fit for his circumstances.

When Peter called, Hayley’s warm, empathetic approach immediately put him at ease. She listened to his situation, assured him he wasn’t alone, and arranged for Matt to visit the property for a free quote.

Above the call - Saving Moonlight the cat

When Matt arrived, he met Moonlight, a 19-year-old cat belonging to Peter’s niece. With no home available for Moonlight, the family was considering euthanasia. Matt “wouldn’t have a bar of it” he refused to let that happen and decided on the spot to save the cat.

He improvised a pet carrier from two laundry baskets, coaxed Moonlight inside, and then drove her to Western Sydney. There, a kind family was ready to give Moonlight a loving home for her final years. This act of kindness brought immense relief to Peter’s niece. Amid so much loss, knowing that Moonlight was safe and loved was a huge comfort to the whole family.

Clearing with compassion

With Moonlight safe and happy, Matt focused on clearing the house. Peter stayed on-site during the clean to point out which items were to be kept and which should be discarded. The crew worked patiently and respectfully, sorting through every room and checking with Peter before removing any sentimental items.

Matt turned what felt like an impossible task into a manageable and calm situation. Matt handled the heavy lifting and disposal, freeing Peter to focus on salvaging mementos. Matt and his crew stayed compassionate throughout, understanding that this was not just a clean-up but part of helping a family heal.

“Rov’s treated us like family, turning an overwhelming situation into something calm, manageable, and incredibly compassionate.”

Heartfelt feedback

With the estate work completed and Moonlight safe in her new home, Peter and his niece could finally breathe a sigh of relief. A tremendous burden was lifted from their shoulders. Impressed by the team’s extraordinary kindness and service, Peter shared the following feedback:

“From my very first contact with Rov’s via Hayley, I was comfortable that I was in the hands of seasoned professionals. I admit that I have always preferred dealing with family business service providers. My experience is that businesses of this nature take their result extremely personally and consistently strive to overdeliver. Rov’s typified this work ethic.”

Peter’s experience is a testament to what we stand for. Rov’s offers services ranging from routine rubbish removal and household clean-ups to excavation services and mobile skip bin hire. Still, every project is approached with the same dedication and personal touch. As a family-run business, our motto is to do right by people, treating each job as if we were helping our own family, and always striving to overdeliver for our customers.

For Peter, that meant not only clearing out a house, but also going above and beyond to comfort a grieving family. This story shows that rubbish removal done with compassion can make a real difference.

FAQs

Rov’s approaches deceased estate work with compassion, patience, and respect. The team understands that clients are often grieving or overwhelmed, so every job is handled gently and carefully, ensuring sentimental items are protected, and decisions aren’t rushed.

Rov’s provided emotional support as well as practical help. Hayley listened empathetically and reassured Peter he wasn’t facing the estate clean-up alone. Matt and the crew then handled the physical clearing while allowing Peter time and space to identify keepsakes without pressure.

Yes. Rov’s regularly goes above and beyond to support clients in unexpected ways. In Peter’s case, Matt rescued Moonlight the 19-year-old family cat, personally finding her a loving new home rather than allowing euthanasia. This level of care reflects Rov’s family-first values.

Clear communication, empathy, and respect are at the heart of every job. Clients are consulted at every step of the way, particularly during deceased estate work, and no items are removed without their confirmation. The goal is to reduce stress, not add to it.

Rov’s provides rubbish removal, household clean-ups, deceased estate clearing, green waste removal, excavation services, and mobile skip bin hire. Regardless of the service, the team maintains the same personal, family-run approach.

Rov’s specialises in taking the pressure off clients who feel daunted by the scale of a job. They handle the heavy lifting, sorting, and disposal so you can focus on what matters, whether that’s preserving memories, preparing a property, or simply getting your space back under control.

Practical Tips

Take your time with sentimental items. Don’t rush decisions; set aside anything you’re unsure about to revisit later with a clear mind.

Start with practical areas first. Tackling rooms like laundries or garages makes early progress easier and builds momentum.

Create three categories: keep, donate, dispose. This simple system helps reduce decision fatigue during emotionally charged tasks.

Ask for help early. Professional crews like Rov’s can manage the physical and emotional load, saving time and stress.

Look after yourself. Grieving while organising belongings is exhausting—take breaks, stay hydrated, and reach out for support when needed.
