If you’re like me, the end of August feels like peering over the dark wall of winter onto a spring wonderland of green grass, flowers, trees slowly waking from winter slumber, and the air smells renewed. I do love spring, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for the next few months.
For Matt and the team, it is time to strap in and get ready for our busiest time of the year. Garden renovations, dropping off our mobile skip bins, and over the coming months, our excavators can get to work on stable land.

Is your garden showing the signs of winter?
Big and small blocks all struggle during winter. While everything sleeps doesn’t mean garden beds, lawns, trees and all manner of flora survive in a vacuum. Prunings, broken limbs, overgrown evergreens, and general winter ugliness can make the garden look neglected and unsightly.
The advent of spring creates a sense of urgency and motivation to get stuck in and do the jobs you’ve been putting off during the cold, grey days of winter. The reality is that the work needed is often much more than you anticipate.
Where to start
As the days have started getting a little longer, have you been looking over your garden in late afternoon light, thinking, “Where to begin?” Late winter is a great time to start preparing a garden for spring. The key is to clean up first, assess what survived winter, improve the soil and prepare for new growth. You don’t need to attack everything at once.
Begin by removing fallen leaves, dead annuals, broken branches, weeds and other debris that has accumulated over winter. It is important to get the weeds now, before warmer weather encourages growth and they begin competing with your spring plants.
Next, cut back and prune. Remove dead, damaged or diseased growth from trees and shrubs and cut back spent perennial foliage. All doable, but where do you put everything you’re pulling out? A mobile skip bin is the answer.
Matt can drop one off where you need it, no permit needed. Our mobile skip bins come in three sizes in a single bin, and you only pay for what you use. The domestic green bin fills quickly; the mobile skip bin is more than just convenient; you can keep filling it until the job is done.
Is the job just too big?
For many of our clients across the Central Coast, Blue Mountains and the Hunter Valley, big blocks mean big challenges. The good news in we can help. Sometimes, a few hours with the secateurs and a mobile skip bin will do the trick. Other times, you take one look at the fallen branches, piles of green waste and overgrown sections of the garden and realise this is going to take more than a Saturday afternoon.
That is where Matt and the Rov’s team can step in. Our green waste removal service takes the hard work out of clearing larger volumes of branches, clippings, leaves and garden outcasts. We do the lifting, loading and removal, leaving you with a cleaner space and a far more manageable spring garden.
Clear first, then decide what comes next
An advantage of a good end-of-winter clean-up is being able to actually see your garden again. Once the weeds, dead growth, fallen branches and accumulated rubbish are gone, it becomes easier to decide what needs attention next.
An area ready for a new garden bed, a lawn that needs some love, trees that require further pruning, or even a section of the backyard you’ve been meaning to renovate. Clearing away winter gives you a clean slate and added motivation for spring.
Get in before the spring rush
There is another good reason to start now. Spring is our busiest time of the year. Once the weather warms up, everyone looks out the window at the same time and decides that something needs to be done!
Whether you want a mobile skip bin dropped at the property so you can tackle the clean-up yourself, or you would rather have Matt and the team handle the green waste removal, now is the time to get organised. A couple of productive weekends now can make an enormous difference.
